How to Set up Open Dental Integration

You will need Company Administrator access to Patient Prism and have Admin in your Open Dental portal.
* Your Open Dental system, but also use the Clinics feature.

The simple explanation is:

1. Enable Clinics in Open Dental
2. Set up Registration Key
3. Install the EConnetor
4. Contact Patient Prism Support
5. Set up API Access

Enable Clinics in Open Dental

1. As an Admin in Open Dental, log in and go to:
   Setup > Advanced Setup > Show Features
   
    
2. Select the Clinics (multiple office locations) check box and click Save:
   
    
3. Enter your password, and you will most likely have to restart the program:
   
   
   
    

Set up Registration Key 

1. Go to Tools > Setup Wizard:
   
    
2. Click the Needs Input box for the Registration Key:
   
    
3. You should see this screen, click Next:
   
    
4. Click Change to add the Registration Key:
   
    
5. You must either find your Registration Key from your Open Dental Welcome Email or ask their support team for it.
    
6. Add the Registration Key, check the box to Agree, and press the OK button:
   
    
7. You should see the Registration Key here now and then click the Next button:
   
    
8. You should see a screen saying you finished the setup:
   
    
9. The Registration Key boxes should now be green and show the Status as OK:
   

Install the eConnector

1. Click the eServices tab and then the eConnector Services button:
   
    
2. Add a name if you would like to the services, and then click Install:
   
    
3. Click Yes on the new box:
   
    
4. You have successfully installed the eConnector:
   
   
   
    

Contact Patient Prism Support

1. To complete the next step, we will need to provide you with an API Key from our Open Dental developer portal.
    
2. Once you get to this step, please submit a Patient Prism ticket to let us know you would like to complete the integration:
   https://support.patientprism.com/hc/en-us/requests/new 
    
3. We will then find your company in the developer portal and send you the API key in the ticket.
    
4. You will then use this API Key in the next step.

Set up API Access

1. Click the Setup Tab > Advanced Setup > API
    
2. Click the Add Key button:
   
    
3. Add the API Key you received in the last section:
   
    
4. Press OK and then Save:
   
    
5. Accept the License.
    
6. You should then see a screen showing that you added the Key successfully.
    
7. Press Save to finalize the process:
   

In the Patient Prism Open Dental integration page, add an Instance and add Customer API Key, and name the integration:

In Open Dental, find the clinic IDs: 
- Lists > Clinic > Double Click -- Clinic ID
 

Lastly, in the Patient Prism integration, link those Clinic IDs to the associated Patient Prism location.
 

We will then be able to see contacts, appointment Types, and availability
