Before making an outbound call, there are a few crucial pieces of information.
You can use our Softphone, or You Call Us features to make outbound calls.
The Softphone will allow you to use your computer to make the call, and you will talk using your computer (or external device) for audio.
The softphone option does not require an outbound tracking number to be created.
You must be able to securely make calls using your computer, ideally by using a headset.
The You Call Us feature will allow you to use your desk/cell phone to dial the patient.
You must dial a Patient Prism Outbound tracking number and enter a PIN.
Creating an Outbound Tracking Number
You must first create an Outbound tracking phone number for the location where you would like to make an outbound call. This is the number that will facilitate the outbound telephony:
- Go to Phone Numbers
- Press +Create
- Select Static
- Chose the company and location
- Select an area code and then a phone number
- Give it a name (Outbound Number - "Location Name")
- Select Direction as Outbound
- Save
-----
For any outbound call, you will have to select the Outbound Caller ID:
The outbound caller ID is the number the "patient" will see on their phone when you call them.
You will either have to use a Patient Prism number for this, or you can verify your number and use your own phone number as the Outbound Caller ID.
** Using a Patient Prism inbound number instead of your verified number will allow the call to be tracked if the patient calls back. In this instance, they will be calling back a Patient Prism tracking number.
-----
We recommend creating an inbound tracking number per location called something like Outbound Caller ID—Location Name and using it for outbound calls.
This will allow you to see how many people call back this number easily since it would only be used as the caller ID.
